Irene/Andy: You carry on about 9/11, but everywhere else, similar events or worse events are a misunderstanding. It's not real, so bring it on *over there*, just keep Eric safe.

The humor-impaired often have this problem. Because they don't truly understand the impulse to comedy, they see it as a form of total denial.

Maybe the best way I can show you that many people do feel and understand the horrors of war, AND ALSO have the ability to joke, is to point you toward some of the Hitler humor the Brits produced during WWII. There were also a lot of very grim jokes current with GIs in the Pacific Theater of WWII.
