Yes, it was Karl Marx.  I didn't know he wrote poetry.  I have no feelings one 
way or the other about about Marx.  Poor people are just as greedy as rich 
people, and revolution is just war spelled with more letters.  Having said 
that, this excerpt is rather moving in a way that I can't quite 
articulate.  It's on page 72 or thereabouts of this book on Adam Smith, Karl 
Marx and John Maynard Keynes:
