sheep dog of England".
Oddly, for Oxonian philosopher H. P. Grice, an Old English Sheepdog is an
example of what he calls "Metaphysical Transubstantiation."
Suppose that there are dogs which have the herding characteristic. One
this characteristic is properly analysed, we get what Grice calls a 'new
entitity'.
The new entitity, Old English Sheepdog, serves that Grice calls a
theoretical purpose, permitting us, for example, to explain its behaviour.
