Stars in one's eyes sounds lovely, but by definition they keep people from seeing clearly. Among other things, people wind up seeing children as extensions of themselves instead of who the children are. Not seeing a child for who they are instead of who the parent thinks they are/wants them to be is tantamount to extinguishing the child. Love is a self-serving dangerous game. I doubt anyone is convinced, and that's fine.
