The May 2008 edition of Orientations: The Magazine for Collectors and
Connoisseurs of Asian Art carries an extraordinary story titled "Rainbows
and Centipedes: 20th Century Discoveries of China's 'Lost' Bridges" by
Ronald G. Knapp. The covered timber-arch bridges it documents are truly
amazing structures. The good news is that you can see many interesting
examples at

Don't mind the Chinese. Clicking on the thumbnails on the right hand side of
the screen will show you the full-size images. Extraordinary stuff.
