If you go to the December 2011 gallery, photo 150, you will see the rabbit
that sprang up in front of us. By the time I swung my camera around it was
already some distance away. Photo 151 is another photo of it running.
Photo 152 shows Duffy in hot pursuit.

Photo 153 shows the rabbit stretched out. It might be a little hard to see
the rabbit in this one so it is best to use the X3 enlargement.

Photo 154 shows Duffy and the rabbit in the same photo - proof that Duffy is
keeping up with the rabbit.

I took some more photos but by that time they had moved too far away to see
anything clearly so I didn't post them.

Chasing rabbits is something the girls do regularly; Duffy has done it on
his own just a few times.

In the research that led up to Susan's buying Duffy she started out wanting
a dog she could carry about in her purse. I argued for something a little
more self-sufficient, something that could handle itself at the river. As
it happened when she saw a photo of Duffy she fell I love with him. All
debate ended at that point. She hoped he would be less than 15 pounds. I
hoped he would be more than 20. The last time he was weighed he was 19.7
pounds - bigger than a rabbit and just as fast.

I haven't seen any coyotes I this area for several weeks so they've either
moved out or are keeping a low profile when we are nearby. Several of these
coyotes have been chased by the girls; so if they don't have a need to
protect their pups they are probably happy to hide out - and Duffy's
presence hasn't changed that in any way.
