Would anyone else like to take a run at a poem--any form-- titled, "How to Make a Great War"?
In the words of Tom Lehrer, "I hereby offer a modest example"
First you conjure up a reason To go into the place Then you talk about the treason With a smile about your face
You separate the factions claiming: "either with us or against" Then you gather your belongings, making sure your yard is fenced
You strip search the old ladies While the terrorists get through You dismantle infrastructure So you have some 'work to do'
You plan to go to war with "them" before your court makes you the Potus Then you leave young folks in danger While you're reworking the Scotus
You must appear to be a moron And keep the lot of them just guessing While your cronies urge the war on You can pretend you aren't just messing
You surround yourself with smarties Who put great words in your mouth While the reps all go to parties Y'all ignore the folks down South
Don't forget, abandoning your own Who fall down further every day Ensures that cost of living grows So you can claim you need more pay.
Now Saddam has been deposed And he's being tried in court When Bushies are exposed They scream about the tort
You go on tv in full capacity To ensure that all is right When they question your veracity You quash them with your spite
As you make your speech in public You smirk and sneer and huff When you can't pronounce a word You throw in "and some stuff"
This is how a leader acts When his good judgment is impeached This how a war is waged Even when your mercy is beseeched
So go out and make maneuvers To show your core's compliance And say the words of movers Who make politics a science
And when your speech is done You wait patient for applause And enjoy the way they eat it up And rally for your cause
When the din calms down You stand up straight and say "I will not stray from my focus God Bless the USA"
