But they will fly if attached to suitable aeronautical equipment. They can
even land safely if the equipment is properly remote-controlled. What
this has to do with democracy in Iraq escapes me. It is the stuff of
cheese-based dreams. And that is leaving aside all that JLS might have to say
about
this 'If p, then q' assertion. The stuff of nightmares.

In fact I once presented a paper to S. A. Kripke (he never read it),
called, "If Pigs Would Fly". I argued that a strict rigid designation of 'pig'
is need to deprive them of 'wings' (to fly). He objected to my presenting a
sequel to his sequel in the first place. This was for the Canadian
Philosophical Society, a meeting at St. Tropez.

Kripke indeed argues that the War of Iraq, the democracy of Iraq, and
flying pigs are "counterparts" in the 'best of possible worlds" (the phrase is
Leibnizian).

"A flying pig is not so much an inconceivability of thought but an idiocy
of thought."
