A LIBERAL meritocracy. [yuks follow]
Surely you remember the US liberal meritocracy that, following World War
II, ramped up US education, particularly in the sciences, created the
ground for the Civil Rights Movement here, and ushered in the greatest
decade of utilitarian publishing 1960-1970 (ah, those $0.35 paperbacks)?
But then you would also have to remember that by today's standards,
President Eisenhower was a tax-and-spend liberal Democrat.
