One third of China is hit by acid rain.  That's the headline in the following 
story.  Pollution is potentially a very destabilizing force in the country.

Good old forgotten Africa.  Chad threw out an American and Malaysian oil 
company.  The underlying reason might be because they're looking for closer 
ties with China.  Not in the article: one reason why China might want more oil? 
 Because it relies heavily on coal, its major polluter.  We are still the 
world's largest emitter of greenhouse gases.
