I think the real problem here is that you are prejudiced against
misanthropists. I do beg to differ, though. Humans are not astonishing at
all. They are in fact very predictable. Predictable and simple. Give them
possessions, the more the better, a nice war now and again, and they're happy.
If you weren't so prejudiced, you'd see that. Come on, Mike, join those in the
know. Be a Misanthropist. Be Proud.

You hate it? But it's you. It's the most pessimistic, depressing poem I've
ever read. It's pure you, you the one who sees nothing in humanity but
violence and stupidity.

Actually, I do love the poem. I love the kick in the balls that comes from
the juxtaposition of the ideas that all values depend first and foremost on the
desire to exist, with the idea that from that value comes the terribly ironic
world summed up in "what evil, what unspeakable crime have you make your life
worth?" It sends chills down my spine. Human beings are astonishing
creatures, the complexity of our lives surpasses all description. Yet you
would dismiss us all as "stupid", that too astonishes me. I guess that
confirms you're human. : )
