I read him when I was young (i read his real work) after knowing how he
died -
I come from a family of "those" who, unlike the "dude in the coffee
shop" took up machine guns while the slaughter was on.

Took me quite a long time to understand what JC was about (I had no idea
at that young age, of philosophy and what it is)
from it my utter laughter for clowns (sartre) or psychopaths (althusser)

I was born in 1956, in case you wonder, at least in occupied europe
memories lasted very long - they are fading now

I apologize for being unclear. I wasn't making a point, I was giving
you an opening; I was asking whether your connection with Cavailles, one
part of the tale of your intellectual formation, might be the sort of
thing you could share here. A former student of H. Stuart Hughes, I'm
interested in this sort of thing.
