"What OTHER goals does Bin Laden have?"

The one I know of is the fall of the house of Saud. The Sauds have
their legitimacy as protectors of the holy sites but bin Laden considers
them corrupt and not worthy of this role. The Sauds walk a tight-rope,
being sympathetic to many of the goals of bin Laden but seeing him as a
threat to their authority.

The removal of the Sauds would be a step to a further, and more
far-reaching, goal of re-establishing the Caliphate and all Muslims, the
ummah, living under a single political order governed by Sharia. This
is not the extremism of the Taliban, bin Laden and the Taliban had a
complicated and difficult relationship, but still an attempt to
establish a trans-national Islamic political order.
