Those of you who remember the movie, "Ring of Bright Water"--shot in my great-grandfather's village, if you must know--will maybe recall that, in an attempt to feed his otter, Gavin Maxwell killed a basking shark. That's now illegal, unless you're Norwegian.

What a cast of characters: Dr. Mauvis Gore of Project Basking Shark (based at Marine Conservation International), which "monitors the fish and attempts to raise public awareness." Nina Baumgartner of the Cetacean Research and Rescue Unit, who spots sharks in Spey Bay. Charlie Phillips of the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society. There's also a vet who specializes in fish executions.

New small movie anyone?
