Furthermore, when Lawrence notes that it is the objective of soldiers to make the OTHER SIDE die for their country, he's spot on. The Wiki article cited above states, "... some nations had a higher casualty rate than others, due to a number of factors including military tactics, crimes against humanity, economic preparedness and the level of technology." If the Soviets didn't use the crude slaughtering tactics of Zhukov and his ilk, the Soviet count would have been significantly lower.
