wondering if there's a difference between 'butchy but beautiful' and 'beautiful but butchy'...
Actually "butchy" never occurred to me. I must know too many strong-minded women. Lesbian, yes, that wasn't hard to decipher, but not butchy. Anyway, Paul's mixed critique is absolutely as legitimate as my unvarnished praise. She had me in tears a couple of times. I loved it all, but I probably have a lot more rage in me and I was so elated to see rage burst into blossom rather than explode in hatred.

Glad you enjoyed...For sure, she's playing to the choir...but her stuff is not non-controversial in a wider context.Ursula Paul Stone wrote:I just watched about 10 of her poems, she's got good presentation; the requisite lesbian anger is there on her sleeve, as is the butchy but beautiful look to keep you watching; she's got the pandering (politically namedropping the non-controversial current events) down pat, and her delivery [when she's not breaking out into inopportune jokes] makes it sound heartfelt -- but, it's sort of like Vivaldi -- one is good, but that's about all you need. dismissively slammin' paul ------------------------------------------------------------------ To change your Lit-Ideas settings (subscribe/unsub, vacation on/off, digest on/off), visit www.andreas.com/faq-lit-ideas.html------------------------------------------------------------------ To change your Lit-Ideas settings (subscribe/unsub, vacation on/off,digest on/off), visit www.andreas.com/faq-lit-ideas.html
