In addition to Dimitri Nabokov of Vevey, Switzerland, the following people
died: Norman Bjorklund, Geraldine Embree, Francis Duane Gordon (Duke) Wieden,
Barbara Ann (Severe) Wiese. The latter, a Baptist, has gone "home to be with
the Lord in Vogelbach, Germany." Dick Chord "was a long standing member in the
Nursery Industry." Norma Grant "proved to be a better marriage prospect than a
secretary." Daphne Lamoreaux "had unnatural wit and charm..." and "an
infectious smile--which was quite literally an award winning smile according to
the American Dental Association..." Esther Louise was born to Phillip and
Minnie Snell in Drain, Oregon in 1917. She married Cromwell Mansell. Her
surviving sisters are Ruth Shoush and Edna Knickerbocker.

Today's editorial page has a letter from Thomas Toothacker. He suggests using
mothballed schools to house the homeless.

Our newspaper is running an ad for a copy editor. What are the job
requirements? You have to write headlines and cutlines and be a "catalyst for
community conversation." In addition to "superior copy editing skills with
error-free grammar," and "good news judgment," item three on the requirements
list is, "operate across a range of media platforms, including posting,
interacting and linking blogs and social media." Applicants will need
"bachelor's degree and/or student."

The current headline writer managed "Buckeyes' buzzer beater sinks Spartans."
Since the buzzer beater's ball was chucked and sunk by a fellow named Bill
Buford, there were further alliterative possibilities. Perhaps too much of
this slows or otherwise inhibits the catalytic effect?
