Should you happen to be in the video store this weekend, consider the DVD I
watched yesterday evening, "Queen Margot." Based on a Dumas novel about the
era immediately preceding the reign of what the epilogue calls "France's
favorite king,"--choices, choices--the movie follows Henry of Navarre from
the moment of his wedding to Margot, to just short of his accession. Along
the way you get passion, intrigue, poison, the St. Bartholomew's Day
massacre, much wretchedness, a Medici and more. You also get Isabelle
Adjani, Daniel Auteuil, Jean-Hughes Anglade... If anything will make you
happy with your twenty first century lot, this may be it.
