Eric a dit:

It turned out to be sensory data that was triggered by odorous
substances reaching the sensory epithelium, activating receptor cell
axons that are part of the olfactory nerve. These nerves perforate the
cribriform plate into the brain cavity and conclude in the olfactory
bulb, which sent their axons in the olfactory tract to the piriform
cortex, the periamygdaloid area, and the olfactory tubercle -- all
bearing neuronal markers of "that smell."

The Bush Administration stands by this story, though many in the media
see this as sign of a coverup ...

I see that the Bush Administration is made up of reductionists who
believe that to understand the physiological processes involved in
sense experience is to explain the experience itself. This is
surprising, for such materialism would seem to conflict with the
Administration's spiritual emphasis elsewhere.
