words on the couch
neither is doing right by the holiday
on lake oswego this evening we'll abandon residual suspicion of
sirens anthems and flags
surrender to myth
trust in god high notes and fireworks
under spacious skies our necks will stiffen
and like corn beneath the moon
we'll wave at the tall president on t.v.
who smiles convincingly
promotes fatherhood
kills flies like a wanton boy
