Don't know if anyone else here has read Neil Stephenson's _Snow Crash_,
a science fiction novel that posits a future in which the USA, largely
a conglomerate of gated communities, excels in only three fields,
music, microcode, and fast-delivery pizza. Looks like the microcode may
have been a miscall.
