Call for Papers for the PSSA Conference, 19-21 Jan 2011

This is the second call for papers for the 2011 conference of the Philosophical Society of SouthernAfrica (PSSA).
The conference is organized and hosted by the School of Philosophy and
Ethics of the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The conference will take place in Durban. The venue is the Salt Rock hotel (see also http://www.saltrockbeach.co.za/). Although favorable rates have been negotiated for all members of PSSA and guests, we urge all participants to reserve rooms as soon as possible, since availability is limited.

Our keynote speaker will be Ian Hacking, Collège de France & University of Toronto. The conference has no theme, and papers in all areas of philosophy are welcome from
members and non-members of the PSSA.
Abstracts of between 300 and 500 words
should reach the conference organizers (D. Mistrey at mistrey@xxxxxxxxxx or Apg Palma
at palma@xxxxxxxxxx) as soon as possible and before 1 October 2010.
Once again we reiterate that early submissions are highly preferable,
since the number of presentation will be limited by time and venue constraints.

SAJP, the South African Journal of Philosophy, is planning to have a volume devoted to the proceedings of the conference. Authors interested in publication should contact the editor, PrAbraham Olivier at aolivier@xxxxxxxxxx Submission are expected to be in the 5000-6000 words length. Be also aware that on the 18th of January at the same location as the PSSA conference a colloquium on the philosophy of science, organized by the Department of Philosophy at the University of Johannesburg will take place. Please contact Emma Ruttkamp (emmar@xxxxxxxx) for all relevant details and information, and for the rules for submission
(anybody can submit a paper to either or both these events.)
