Postdoctoral Scholar Opportunity in Trait-based Approaches at Scripps
Institution of Oceanography
We invite applications for a postdoctoral position at the Scripps Institution
of Oceanography (SIO) at UC San Diego in La Jolla, California, in the area of
Trait-Based Analyses of Plankton Communities. The postdoctoral scholar will
work with Dr. Mark Ohman as a research mentor, in the Integrative Oceanography
Division at SIO. The research will address plankton (esp. zooplankton) dynamics
in the California Current Ecosystem, as represented by Trait-based approaches.
This position is supported by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and
includes collaborations with colleagues at DTU Aqua in Denmark.
Candidates are required to have completed the PhD degree prior to taking up the
appointment and preferably should have received the degree no earlier than 1
January 2015. Awards are competitive with a major emphasis on potential for
independent, creative research. A strong background in plankton ecology,
biological oceanography, and quantitative methods of data analysis is required.
The postdoctoral position is for one year. An additional year of support may be
granted based on relevance to externally supported projects. Appointees are
eligible for health insurance through UC San Diego.
Candidate application materials are due by 20 May 2017. Successful candidates
preferably will start prior to 15 August 2017, but this is negotiable.
Applications should be submitted at: http://cce.lternet.edu/ohman-postdoc-2017 ;
