OK, did that, BUT- when sndconfig tries to play a sample test, it gives me:

/etc/isapnp.conf:466 -- Fatal - IO range check attempted
while device activated
/etc/isapnp.conf:466 -- Fatal - Error occurred executing
request '<IORESCHECK>' -- further action aborted
