John,

Thanks for your quick response.I think I made some
mistakes in my initial post. NG only works on kernel
2.4.9 or higher. Redhat 7.2, I guess is 2.4.7 so NG
wouldn't work on it. The kernel of redhat 7.3 is again
too high for NG.  SO I am torn between installing 7.2
and upgrading the kernel or installing 7.3 and
downgrading the kernel. I am fairly new to linux
anyway. I need to get this to work so I can learn the
checkpoint software.
