Hello, My name is Lion Kuntz, Currently located in Santa Rosa, California, USA I have published a website to coincide with this global ecocity conference. Think of it as my "poster". The magnitude of the current eco-crisis has been concealed from the general public: 38 million people in immanent prospect of starving to death in the next 90 days in Africa; 9 million more in Asia,; and, another 9 million in Central America; food surpluses turning into food shortages almost everywhere; very few reserves available for moving around. The abrupt and astonishing ecological breakdown over most of the continent of Australia: with fire damage covering vast areas the size of some contries; holocausts marching through the capital city of the country; fire & drought on the polar side surrounding the largest city, Sydney; while simultaneously the equatorial side receives snow and their coldest summer temperature ever recorded. Droughts on five continents, some becoming semi-permanent. 30,000 species extinguished per year. The increasing intensity and frequency of catastrophic storms. All of these things are well known to intelligent people. The problem has been, to keep the public from excitability the information is confused or suppressed by mass media in all lands, and under all socio-economic regimes. The illusion being created is that there are problems coming, when, in fact, they are already here. I have produced a PROPOSAL suggesting comprehensive integrated solutions, and published it on a website to bypass obstructionism. Powerful economic and political interests oppose alterations of the status quo -- they prefer to "fiddle while Rome burns" (to use an analogy of Nero). There are many points of filtering or censorship between my computer and yours. To defeat obfuscation, I also have compiled extensive support documentation which intelligent people can use to squash the illusionary facade of piecemeal retrofitting of fundamentally ecologically-hostile modern lifestyles. The problems are too big to be solved by village retrofitting of eco-san toilets when the village will be subsequently buried by sandstorms of country-sized magnitude. Abrupt paradigm changes of global dimension is called for. Because this is an "eco"-city science conference, with intended impacts on biology, I shall be copying my communications to usenet news group "Sci.Bio.Ecology". Messages are often databased on http://www.google.com search engine even before list members receive them in their email box. Messages published publically will often use various alternate email addresses to divert away unsolicited advertising volume. http://ecosyn.us is the host site name. The pages are very graphics-intensive, to reduce ambiguity for a poly-lingual readership. Therefore, please SAVE a copy of each page on your local computer so that you do not have to download the same bulk data again later. Users of slow modems (56K or less) might visit pages with graphics-view turned off, until they have decided whether they want to revisit the information and SAVE it with pictorial documentation support intact. http://www.ecosyn.us/ecocity/Proposal/proposal1.html http://www.ecosyn.us/ecocity/Challenges/index.html http://www.ecosyn.us/ecocity/Challenges/drought/index.html http://www.ecosyn.us/ecocity/Challenges/duststorms/index.html http://www.ecosyn.us/ecocity/Challenges/famine/index.html http://www.ecosyn.us/ecocity/Challenges/fires/index.html http://www.ecosyn.us/ecocity/Challenges/floods/index.html More pages will soon be published, about one every other day or so. This proposal is not applicable in every location, but does have widescale deployment potential in many areas. It deserves fair consideration. ######################################## THE PROPOSAL: *** Urban design supporting human population growth to 10,000,000,000 peak coming shortly. *** Compaction of "human footprint" *** Integrated sewerage treatment and water purification, local, decentralized *** Solar energy capture *** Local, Decentralized, Food Security *** Severe Climate Change Defense Measures BELOW are summarized data derived from proposal website pages, using China as a hypothetical model.
