Hi John and list, After combing through my nemeth books, I didn't find this symbol. I agree that we should use the C for complex numbers but if the C is capitalized, then it needs to be 46-6-14 and if it's not capitalized, then it needs a letter-sign, since it is a modified letter, so 46-56-14. Rule V in the nemeth codebook only provides for five typeforms, bold, italic, script, regular, and sanserrif. In the appendix I found a bunch of "crossed letters," which all have preceding dot 4's. For example, 4-14 for the cent sign and 4-234 for dollars. At first I thought this would be the best route to take but it would have to be altered to not conflict with the cent sign and that would create more confusion. Your original assertion is very logical and doesn't conflict with anything. BTW I remember You mentioning a blind chemistry convention. Is there info on the web somewhere about this meeting? thanx Mike -----Original Message----- From: liblouis-liblouisxml-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:liblouis-liblouisxml-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of John J. Since the script capital R, dots 4-6-1235, stands for real numbers, I think we could reasonably use dots 4-6-14 for complex numbers.
