when I did file de-* i got the following:
de-ch-g1.ctb: ISO-8859 English text
de-ch-g2.ctb: ISO-8859 English text
de-de-g1.ctb: ISO-8859 English text
de-de-g2.ctb: ISO-8859 English text
de-g1-core.ctb: ISO-8859 English text
de-g2-core.ctb: ISO-8859 English text
de-ch-g0.utb: ISO-8859 English text
de-de-g0.utb: ISO-8859 English text
de-g0-core.utb: ISO-8859 English text
de-ch-accents.cti: ISO-8859 English text
de-chardefs6.cti: ISO-8859 English text
de-chardefs8.cti: ISO-8859 English text
de-de-accents.cti: ISO-8859 English text
google tells me that default encoding for German is Latin1, I have gone ahead
and converted them to utf-8 as per our plan.
If this is wrong please speak up.
