Note that Visual Studio should not be considered or implemented as the
only way to do proper Windows support, as that forces the user to use
Visual Studio. It's acceptable to require the Microsoft toolchain, but
this is included in the Windows SDK. However, many users (including
myself) do not use Visual Studio, even though we do use the Microsoft
toolchain.
