Hi Davy,

The project is in liblouis-3.2.0\liblouis\windows. It contains only cnfigure.mk, makefile.am, makefile.in and makefile.nmake and the include map with only config.h, makefile.am and makefile.in.

Note. that I renamed the second version to liblouis, which was originally also liblouis-3.2.0.

No, the fodler should be liblouis\windows\utils, e.g. it is part of the Git repository for liblouis. Or so it should be.
I tested this on Windows 7 and 10 before committing and both worked for me. The Windows 10 one was a clone from GitHub.

H Davy,

No, I don't see an "utils" map in c:\windows\program files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\Common7\Tools (where vsvars32.bat is).
I suspect that it is not supported in the Community version that I am using.
Can you indicate what I should change so I can do this manually?

Hi Arend,

Are you running NMake in the windows subdirectory?
Do you see the utils directory there, with the find-replace.ps1 script in it?

Hi Davy,

In the meantime I found my developer version for the command line, so I don't need to run vsvar32.bat, but it still does not work. It also did not work when I applied vsvars32.bat on the normal command line.

Same error:
The argument 'utils\find-replace.ps1' to the -File parameter does not exist.
Provide the path to an existing '.ps1' file as an argument to the -File parameter.

Hi Davy,

I use the command line. Some time ago this was a special version, for my Windows compiler, but now I could not find it, so I used the command line and manually run VSVARS32.bat.

I use this method only for LibLouis, so every time (3 or 6 months or so) I have to do this, I need to check and double check what the procedure was. In addition I also have to check what the procedure is to build the LibLouisUTDML version.

Hi,

This file is a PowerShell script that acts as a sed-like utility. We use it to find & replace text in liblouis.h, thus removing the need for the separate windows\liblouis.h file.

- Are you running NMake in the windows subdirectory?
- Do you see the utils directory there, with the find-replace.ps1 script in it?

Hi,
I am trying to build LibLouis  3.2.0 using Visual Studio 15 (on Windows 10).

I get an error:
...
       PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned  -File
utils\find-replace.ps1 -InputFile ..\liblouis\liblouis.h.in -OutputFile ..\liblouis\liblouis.h -Str1 @WIDECHAR_TYPE@ -Str2 "unsigned short int"
The argument 'utils\find-replace.ps1' to the -File parameter does not exist.
Provide the path to an existing '.ps1' file as an argument to the -File parameter.
Windows PowerShell
Copyright (C) 2016 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
...

It seems that de map "util" is not defined. The configure.mk file shows:

# Unicode bits
UCS=2

# Directories
SRCDIR=..\liblouis
UTILSDIR=utils

In addition: what does the file extension "ps1" stand for? Is it something that the compiler can handle? And is it needed for a normal build?

The code seems to have been changed by Davy Kager around 6-6-2017, but it was not clear to me why this change was made.

liblouis 3.2.0 has been released

The liblouis developer team is proud to announce the liblouis release 3.2.0.
The release is available for download at:

   https://github.com/liblouis/liblouis/releases

Introduction
============

Liblouis is an open-source braille translator and back-translator. It features support for computer, literary and math braille, supports contracted and uncontracted translation for many, many languages[1].
It plays an important role in an open source accessibility stack and is used by screenreaders such as NVDA, Orca and JAWS. A companion project liblouisutdml[2] deals with formatting of braille.

Changes in this release
=======================

Aside from the usual improvements to Braille tables this release focuses on improving the internal infrastructure. Numerous bugs have been fixed, the CI infrastructure also checks mingw builds now and MSVC compatibility has been massively improved. For a detailed list of all the changes refer to
