(http://www.gnu.org/software/texinfo/manual/texinfo/html_node/Atsign-Braces-Comma.html#Atsign-Braces-Comma):

‘@’ and curly braces are special characters in Texinfo. To insert these
characters so they appear in text, you must put an ‘@’ in front of these
characters to prevent Texinfo from misinterpreting them. 

So the entry would most likely look as follows:

@item @{ (left brace)
@item @} (right brace)
