John, Is there a way to search a file system tree for a specific file? I can't find a .bashrc file. I found a file called /etc/bash.bashrc. Would that be it? Is pkgconfig a file or a directory? My /usr/local/lib directory is empty. How else would I find out what to set this variable to? My errors from configure were: ./configure: line 13558: syntax error near unexpected token `BASE_DEPENDENCIES,' ./configure: line 13558: `PKG_CHECK_MODULES(BASE_DEPENDENCIES, liblouis libxml$ Where do I go from here? You should add a line like this to your .bashrc file and then log out and log back in. export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/devel/lib/pkgconfig The part after the = sign is system dependent. I can't say what it would be on your system, but it might be /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig John -- John J.
