Debian packages are for the debian operating system, they aren't for MacOSX. Install libxml2 from source. The only case where I think you would use a debian package on a mac is if you installed debian as another operating system.

Bert, Welcome to the list. I think you should get the source for libxml2 and build it on your Macbook. The Debian package is probably unsuitable. I have an older Mac that runs liblouisxml. Let us know if you have further problems. The problem i encounter now is: /sw/bin/dpkg: error processing libxml2-dev_2.7.6.dfsg-1_i386.deb (-- install): package architecture (i386) does not match system (darwin-i386) I'm new to the concept of debian packages so this may be a silly question. But does this mean there is no way i can install liblouisxml on my mac? Kind regards Bert Frees For a description of the software and to download it go to http://www.jjb-software.com
