John, I was aware of these tools but this is a good summary of what they do. Is there any way they could be made to work on Windows? I think many people would use them besides just me. What do you think? To complete the picture, I wish to mention the liblouis tools which are provided for checking and validating tables. These tools are available on Linux and Mac. On Windows, only the library itself is available at present. The first of these tools is lou_checktable, which analyzes a table for errors and prints out appropriate messages. Another is lou_translate. It enables you to enter text and immediately observe the output. Still another is lou_allround, which is completely interactive and enables you to chose what you want to test and observe the results. Then there is lou_debug, which enables you to examine tables in detail. Finally, there is lou_checkhyphens, which enable you to enter a word and see if it is properly hyphennated. All these tools are covered in the liblouis documentation. John -- John J.
