If you want to use the LibLouis functions in your own Python programmes then may be look at the Python bindings for LibLouis.

Unfortunately there are no Python bindings for LibLouisUTDML, however you may want to look at the LibLouis Python bindings to see how CTypes can be used to access a C library. An alternative might be to look at the Python bindings I di for LibLouisXML and never updated for LibLouisUTDML, these bindings use Cython instead of CTypes and so give another way of binding from Python. The LibLouisXML bindings probably only need some tweaking to get them working with LibLouisUTDML and so may be much less work than writing some CTypes bindings from scratch.

Thank you. I want to use the LiblouisUTDML and Liblouis functions in my own Python program. That’s the reason I must have an executable. It is easier to use an executable in stead of a source file.

Both messages seem to have got to the list, so may be you do not get your own messages when posting to the list.

The file liblouis.dll is for other programmes to use, it contains the functions of liblouis and lets these applications call those functions. As an end user it has little direct use for you.

Building LibLouisUTDML on Windows is a difficult process and something I really don't want to go into as at times it has even posed issues for myself as a software developer to even get everything correct in the build process. Also for the work I do for APH on BrailleBlaster, we have dropped LibLouisUTDML for developing our own Java library to process XML and translate to Braille, so LibLouisUTDML has little interest to me.

I seem to have a memory that someone else on the list has managed to build it within the last few months, hopefully they will be willing to provide a copy of their binary to you.

    Hello all,

I have a question about the Liblouis DLL.

It is simple: What can I do with the Liblouis.dll file?

    A second question is:

Where can I get a fully builded and usable LiblouisUTDML with
file2brl for Windows? I found Liblouis 3.0.0 builded with mingw32,
but nothing about LiblouisUTDML. When I try to build it myself, I
get lots of errors from nmake, on Windows 10.

    Thanks for your help!

    Cheers, Jordy.
