svn provides a file list itself, though, so isn't this also redundant information? (svn log -v) Of course, where specific changes need to be mentioned in relation to specific files, itmakes sense to include filenames. However, often, we see ChangeLog entries like this:
* file1:
* file2:
* file3:
* file4:
* file5:
* file6: comment
In this case, the file list from svn would have been just as adequate. Furthermore, one doesn't need to gather the file list at commit time, which is a huge task in some cases.

Pardon my obsession with eliminating redundancy. :-)
