Hi mIki

I think the idea of several sections for deferent ages is good
but also- perhaps each game will have levels- so a 4 year old can brag about him solving big boys riddles.
and since you are a gamer
i expect the game section to attract ppl from everywhere.
yes- some homophobes too. perhaps they will learn a thing or 2...

as for the name

Gaymer
as in
Gamer ?

and i had another one, but i dont remember the word. something that ends with- fairy - and is in the amusement park...

i think it should be a short small name, easy to remember, not too much " gay-in-your-face"- so a kid can wear the shirt with the logo, and wont be ridiculed as
" you go to the gay site...na na na na "

like
CNV

like
K.G

we loooove K>G
(kids gay)

or GK
or
\you know what i mean

Hi,

This e-mail from my friend Elite is in Hebrew and I imagine was meant to be sent to me directly. You don't need to understand hebrew to see that she's very talented from her attachment! Some interesting ideas which I'll roughly translate:

Elite suggests to have forums and blogs (including a podcast). An idea I really like was to have competitions (drawing, colouring etc.). Also there was an idea to create shirts, stickers etc with logos and images from the site.

I think forums are a nice idea, but we need to be very careful with that. It might attract homophobes and perverts and needs to be very carefully moderated. Perhaps even have a moderator approve every single message before it is posted. I think it'll be nice to create a section for parents to get feedback from them and keep them up to date with behind the scenes bits and sneak previews and perhaps even recruit visitors to volunteer themselves if they happen to have a creative talent.

Age-wise: I was initially thinking of very young children, but I think we'll create two or three main sections aimed at different ages, offering a variety of activities.

Another fun thing to think about is a name. Just throw in any silly name that goes through your name, even if it's bad. In fact, especially if it's bad. I'll go first with my horrible name, see if you can top it: Gay Jr. That name is wrong on so many way:

1) It's not inclusive. It's not only for kids with gay parents.
2) It sounds like it's about gay kids, which it's not.
3) It sounds like a child porn website! Yikes.

Anyway!

Hi all,

This is the new list for the new LGBT website project you all showed interest in. The purpose of this list is to discuss exactly what we should be doing. The basic idea, as I pitched it before, is to have a fun website for parents and children where they can access stories, games and activities that they can enjoy both off- line and on-line. The twist is that the content will feature as a setting a variety of different family types: gay, transgender, single, mixed race etc. etc.

So let the discussion start! I'll be creating a Wiki soon to keep track of the discussions on the mailing list.

To write to the list either reply to any message sent by the list or compose a message to lgbtwebproject@xxxxxxxxxxxxx .

There are ten of us so far (though I know some have a less frequent access to e-mail than others), but feel free to recruit for the cause.

Anyway!

My plan is to have stories and poems that can be viewed on-line (perhaps with simple animations or flash interactivity) or printed offline. There should be games and activities (connect the dots, spot the differences, colouring etc.). Anything else? Does anyone have any questions or thoughts on the technical side of putting it all together?

Cheers,
