Your advice on the below issues or what Copier would best suit the requirements
be appreciated.
The only main issue is with the z-fold unit as all other functions on the
printer are fine.
* Our current 2 Reprographic printers (Konica Minolta Bizbub C759e) are not
sufficient for our needs in connection to the Z-Fold Unit. We print a number of
different types of documents like the Council Agendas, Contracts, and Planning
Scheme which contains A3 pages which needs to be z-folded. We print
double-sided in order to reduce paper use, but also when there are large
volumes of folded A3 sheets which needs to be bound in an A4 document
(sometimes includes around 100 or more consecutive A3 pages).
* The current printers are inferior to our previous printer (C754e) which
we purchased under the tender/quote process. The current machines were simply
replaced when the previous machines reached the end of their life cycle of 5
years.
* The current machine's z-fold unit is incorporated into the main
staple/booklet finisher rather than a separate (heavy duty?) unit of the C754e
which used to be located between the main unit and the finisher. As a result,
when printing and z-folding double-sided there is a lot of errors in folding
the sheets properly in particular when there are a lot of printing coverage on
the page. This is due to the toner surface on the page apparently becoming too
slippery for the fold unit. The fold unit on the previous machine performs far
better as the sheets are folded correctly and can stack much more in the output
finisher than current machine as they are folded/pressed down harder (not much
air between the folds). The type of toner used on the older machine might have
been not as slippery but cannot recall this.
* The newer model for the current machine is the Konica Minolta C750i. It
uses a newer staple/booklet finisher FS-540 (current machine is the FS-539))
which is mostly the same, but uses the same z-fold unit (ZU-609). So the issue
would not possibly be resolved with the new machine.
* Not sure if there are any production machines of similar speed that may
perform better.
