Hi Darren,
We looked at it but decided it wasn't a path worth going down.
Instead we focused on setting up Apple Business Manager and the VPP Managed
Distribution in our MDM (AirWatch/Workspace One). All of our devices are
corporate-owned with personal use allowed (no BYOD), so our process is that all
corporate apps are licenced through Apple Business Manager and managed by
AirWatch. Users can install corporate apps onto their devices using the "App
Catalogue" on their home screen.
For personal apps, they use the standard App Store. They need to sign in to
their personal AppleID account in order to install personal apps. This
supposedly pushes the personal apps into a separate part of the device in the
background, keeping work and personal separate in terms of data and app-to-app
communications.
We use a very similar process with Android For Work configuration for Android
devices.
Hopefully this helps.
Cheers

Subject: lg-it Managed Apple IDs
[EXTERNAL Message: Be cautious of clicking on links or opening attachments.]
Sunshine Coast Council are looking at the possibility of utilising federated
authentication against Azure AD with Apple Business Manager for Managed Apple
ID's.
Just wanted to canvas whether others have looked at this approach? Are
successfully using it? Lessons learned? Approach and environment. If you have
put it in place please personal message me so we can setup a time to discuss
your experiences further. Also interested in the impact on the staff after it
was in place eg the provision of applications etc to the phones. How you
approached the transition and what the impact was like.
Any feedback much appreciated.
