Well I would like to see:

A. Lightwave object export, including a uv map, with the option for quads and tri's. An added bonus would be if marker's could be included in the export as nulls, in a layer. Or maybe Lightwave scene format with camera.

B. Polygon reduction or decimate routine for all mesh formate, but huge biggy as I run everything through AccuTrans3D. http://www.micromouse.ca, and can reduce polygons there, or in lightwave there is the Decimate plug-in. http://amber.rc.arizona.edu/lw/decimate2.html

Speaking of AccuTrans, if you are looking file format enhancements. Micoromouse AccuTrans format DLL might prove useful, not sure of the liecening for comercial software, but they support several landscape formats as wall as a host of 3d object formats.

C. Perhaps a better way of making flat area for building or object placement. Maybe just 2d cross section of an 3d mesh as a cross section. Maybe with an option for choosing the x,y or z cross section. or the ability to drop a simple 100-200 point object on the terrain, leaving a displaced terrain based on it points. That way you could flatten the terrain or dig foundations. Wavefront format and DXF would seem most logical I guess. LWO, 3DS would be nice.

D. Custom Brush shapes, with gray levels. Along with the ability to save librarys.

E. I would like to see the marker system take to a new level, with the option to polulate a terrain with a set number of markers of an assigned a type, and lable. These markers would then be distrubuted, based on height, slope, etc... over the terrain, with an option to limit distrubution with a selection. The dispersion of markers could be controled with say some form of noise function. Once generated each group of markers could output in some 3d object format as nulls, or perhap a text based format xml, that could be parsed for placing trees or objects on the terrain later. Perhap event mapping different type of makers based on grayscale map. Maybe you could even paint with marker.

F. A marker system to help defining motion paths, with snapping to terrain height, or with a height offset, or static world height option. The addition of path smoothing would be helpful along with text file output for parsing into another application. Spline support would be use full here.

Well, now that the post-2.5 tasks have been largely put to rest, the floor is open to discussing the future. Leveller has always been market-driven and, as 3.0 is the next goal, any and all ideas will be placed in the queue (within reason, of course -- no flying cars).

My list so far has:

- Direct spline support
- Texture editing
- Material maps
- Layers
- More cohesive file format
- Macros
