Hi Gary,

Thanks for the enlightment, in fact, in terms of loupe, I feel I need a better one than the Horizon.

You see, these days, I'm sorting out the slides from my trip to BC, visited David's place in August. And the loupe is good to check the slides but it requires a full projection to measure the impact.

But the Leica is high. I tried to locate a SMC Pentax like David's (believe me, this guy has really some cool stuff) but expensive.

No hurry though, the Ahel (www.ahel.fr) will be there in a while.

Carry on with posting!

Hi Bille
Your right about the loupe price, but I got it off eBay for about 1/2 price of a "store-bought" one. And it was practically brand new, still boxed, etc.
The Summicron 50 R [1st version] is the one I use/used. The glass is far enough back not to be in harm's way.
Have Fun

Gary,

The leica Loupe is probably good but the price is really, er, Leica!

As my Horizon loupe had landed ground harshly a year back, I repaired it with superglue, Santa has discovered my "need" for Xmas.

So far, the best offer is the Loupe 5X by Ahel (www.ahel.fr), a rebadged product made in Japan (er could be Cosina).

A reversed Summilux 50 feels rather heavy in my paw, just tried it. And I'm afraid to mess with the coating of the precious lens!

Cheers.

I used a Sumi-R 50 reversed for years, then a few months ago I bought a Leica loupe.
I really like it and my arm doesn't get as tired :^)
