Steve Barbour SHOWED: Subject: [LRflex] old swimming hole... > on the american river... > > http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/barbour/PAW2011/swimmingamr.jpg.html Hi Steve, this doesn't look any different than the old "Don Valley swimming hole" many east end kids of Toronto, Canada swam in back in the . 30's!!! At that time life was simple, it was a swimming hole of the Don River that ran through the East end of Toronto through the Don Valley. It was boys only and was generally made up of poor and moderately poor kids who lived in the surrounding areas. We'd go down in the valley early morning during summer school holidays with some kind of lunch bag and spend the day splashing about enjoying a wonderful summer holiday. Once in awhile a kid got drowned and it was a bad scene. But no authorities rushed in and stopped poor kids having a great summer. But then along came the 40's and the pollutions of the times and the kids having simple... remember KISS? Summer simple fun and holidays! Today I understand one can nearly walk across the surface of the river....... thanks to modern day pollutions and rules and regulations! Yep the "30's weren't really all that bad for some kids." Thanks for a photograph that brought back those wonderful fun loving summer days of so long ago! :-) cheers, ted ------ Unsubscribe or change to/from Digest Mode at: http://www.lrflex.furnfeather.net/ Archives are at: //www.freelists.org/archives/leicareflex/
