Morning Peter,
Thanks for your concern. My son and family are presently in Minsk summering
with Kseniya’s parents. Russell has been back to Tokyo a couple of times
via Hong Kong without incident. However, long term the unrest is changing his
corporate plans - and his Board had decided to close the Hong
Kong office and move the holding company to Tokyo. This will mean a big tax hit
for Russell which will have to be compensated for in some fashion.
I personally feel very sorry for my former employees and colleagues who are
still resident in Hong Kong and don’t have the means or resources to get out.
The adult children of three friends have already left to live in Canada. There
are 300,000 Canadians in Hong Kong and if most of them leave housing prices
in Vancouver and Toronto will certainly start to rise again!!
