Hey guys

I do like my SL2 finder. I like the R8 finder. I like the D200 finder. I
like the finders on my M6TTLs. (Although not comparable I like my old Leitz
50mm accessory finder on my IIIA.) Not sure I'd want to make unconditional
statements about any of them. In that regard I am "liberal" - happy to say
what I like, not so happy to try to make statements of absolute truths. No
camera is perfect. Each has features I like.

I am not convinced lists such as this one are well serviced by those who
insist on asserting absolutes. If most members lurk it is because they do
not want to suffer the wrath of the vocal few who see the list as their
domain in which to continually restate their view of the world.

Chris

Huh?

The flex finders are recognized by virtually everyone
in the business as being among the best finders ever
made! I'll bet you use eyesight correction! For some
reason, if you have sharp eyesight you'll find the SL
SL2 finders easier to focus. But if you are not 20/20
and you aren't correcting, you'll find the Rs easier
to focus. I think it's because the R has a coarder
microprism collar that ths SL2 and SL2. When I was
younger I compared my old SL to my new R4 and the SL
won hands down. Today I can focus easier with the R.
It's not just diopter correction btw: The eyepoint may
be different on the flexes.

As for the handling, I don't think there's muh room
for opinion here. Everything falls into place on the
SL if you have normal sized hands. They went to
considerable expense to offset the release from the
take up spool and keep it coaxed with the advance
lever and shutterspeed dial. With the SL2 you have all
the info in the finder and what you are left with is
the ideal feature set on the finest mechnical camera
design ever to leave the drawing board.
