Ted, Thanks for the comments; you are kind. Photography in China, for me, is good news and bad. There are subjects everywhere but the lighting conditions can be very difficult. I would love to ride your coat tails and see how you would handle the excessive contrast, soupy skies, etc... As for color, yes. To me China can be monotonously drab, gray in the winter and green in the summer. So when you do see color it really stands out. I think you should go to the Olympics. I can understand your staffing peoples concerns but the Chinese respect age. You would be treated very well. You can see the Beijing Olympic facilities from my wife’s sister’s apartment. Her daughter has worked on the Olympics PR staff for several years. If there was ever an Olympic chance for us, this is it. Unfortunately we are not in a position to make a China trip this year. Wish I could offer you our room. The pictures I posted were done through Yahoo SiteBuilder. My daughter set it up for me; I just pay the monthly fees. All I did was to create a html page, add a 1x1 table for each picture and set the border parameters, insert a picture into each table, arrange the tables on the page, and finally turn the background black. It works for me as long as I don’t do too many pictures and keep it simple. (To clarify for anyone who might not be familiar with Midwest humor, my final comment is tongue in check.) I was surprised you didn’t comment on the last picture. It shows my wife buying souvenirs. I thought it followed your mantra of light, action, content, and catching the moment. My wife’s favorite activity when we are in China is buying souvenirs.
