Yep - that was my reaction too. After all folks, a lot of us have seen Ted upright, sometimes going a bit diagonal after a few malts, but I've never seen the man truly upside down.


Tell us a little more about the experience, Ted. After all, you were trusting your remaining years to a 60 year-old British Rolls Royce engine (the Merlin - though in this case probably the US Packard-manufactured version).

The P-51 is aesthetically a machine second only to the Spitfire - it has the same form/function harmony as a Leica (IMHO). Interestingly there's only one dual seater Spitfire left in the world, and it's in England. One of these days I may emulate Ted and go up in it.......
