Hi Sonny,
Ah yes, cats do “own their place” and do as they please.
I think of the cats I have known as benevolent dictators, leading lives of
their own making; I did not own them, they owned me, chiefly as a source of
food.
There is a theory that cats first became domesticated in Mesopotamia when
agriculture developed and grain was first stored, which attracted rodents like
rats and mice.
Wild cats took up at the grain storage sites for easy sources of food and
became residents in the farmer’s abodes.
They had no reason to attach themselves to the farmers, as dogs did, hence
their Independence and even stand-off-ish behavior.
It is a good story which cannot be proved, but it is still a good story.
My best to you and your house supervisor Sasha. I understand completely.
Bill

Sonny,
I know that I am guilty of anthropomorphism but that photo is the saddest
looking cat I’ve ever seen.
Sigh,
Bill
Sasha is anything but sad. She’s the supervisor of the house. The wide eye
deadpan look is her trademark, and if you’ve seen other images, you might
agree. Of course in this shot her irises are almost full open as the light
level is so low.
