Harpdog sent some corrections to my earlier post about his playing in Kamloops,
last Wednesday night.
1- He modestly pointed out that he has won the Maple Blues award for best
Canadian Blues Harmonica Player, three times (not two, as I claimed) in a row.
2) Pat's "new" bass was not new, just different. A rental, I'm told.
3) Jordi's "new" guitar is Harpdog's old guitar, which he's occasionally used,
over the years. (Apparently my rememberer is close to getting shot.)
4) I mentioned that Harpdog likes old school amplifiers. Well, he does, but
the one I showed is, apparently, not that old. He writes that his "old looking
amp is actually a custom built amp made by a guy in Brighton Ontario, Trinity
amps... that is called The T-Dog amp designed and built for me..."
5 and finally one correction of my own... I'd mentioned that the air quality
index went to 18 (with 10 + over being "very high risk"). Well, the next day
it peaked at 49 around 4 PM ! Nowhere in our area has been below 10 for weeks,
thanks to nearby forest fires.
Mind you, we now feature a fine selection of domestic and imported smokes - as
some of it is coming from the Douglas County Complex in Washington State - or
so we are told. Mind you, it's just a tiny fire - at a reported 22,337
acres burned. The Elephant Hill fire (which started just a half hour's drive
west of us on July 6th and is still burning out of control) has now burned
272,400 acres (or 110,236 hectares if you prefer). Thankfully, for us, it has
burned north, not east.
These comments offered here, in the spirit of honesty, clarity and transparency.

------------
Our little town is a half hour drive from Kamloops.
Each summer, Kamloops provides free concerts in the Riverside Park band shell,
from 7 to 8:30 pm, every evening in July & August.
Last night it was our friend, Harpdog Brown & his band, so naturally we made
the treck into town.
Photography proved a challenge, despite being broad daylight. Smoke from the
nearby forest fires made for lousy air quality (10+ is "Very high risk", they
say but yesterday Kamloops measured at 18), with remarkably low light. But, it
was also stiflingly hot at 37C (98.6F) at 7 PM.
This first shot is of the sun, at 7:38 pm.

During the show, bylaw officers rode by, to check out the music. You can see
the haze, just looking across the crowd.

But, as always, the show goes on ...
Harpdog (yes, that's his legal name!) has just won the Maple Blues (Canada's
most prestigious award for Blues musicians) "Harmonica Player of the Year", for
the second year running.

Pat has a new Bass...

And Jordi, a new guitar...

Some folks seemed to flow with the music...

While others just wanted to dance...

Harpdog is very "old school", using ancient, tube amplifiers for a "warmer"
sound. Perfect in pubs & small jazz clubs, but, getting them hooked up to a
modern amplifier takes a little doing...

And, finally, it was not just me who wanted to take photos...

Enjoy!
