Ok so two things come into play first is the manufacture of the ply. Under
pressure the top layer of cells on the outside layers is compressed making them
somewhat resistant to moisture. Also with the outside layers being only .78mm
thick there is some glue bleed. These two factors are what contribute to the
beading on new ply.
Now after a period of time the effects of weather, sun, snow, hot , cold and
wear breaks the surface down so that the surface is no longer smooth and the
water is no longer able to create surface tension to form bubbles.

Good morning, all!
I've spent the last few days repairing/rebuilding the upper deck on my
house. I've replaced the fascia of the decking and the plywood decking
itself.
Late yesterday afternoon, I had to stop for the day, as a string of
thunderstorms moved in.
I noticed that the rain formed long-lasting bubbles, with a life of about
10 to 15 seconds,

until another rain drop hit them, and they burst.

But, I was wondering if anyone here can tell me why such bubbles would
form, when they did not form on the old wood.
Just a curiosity....
David.
PS: shots taken with Oly's E-M1 and the 50~200 zoom + 1.4 converter ... so
