This morning's Polarthon was the "kick-off" event for Logan Lake's week long Polar Carnival.
A Polarthon is a 5km skate, 2.5km run, 3.5km Cross-country ski followed by a final 2.5km run back to the start/finish line.
Each year I get to photograph the skating and finish line runners ... but never the skiing, for by the time the last skaters are finished, the first skiers are already underway! I need a team-mate for this and my one possible helper is away!
This year, a couple of young girls caught my attention, as they crossed the finish line, just under two hours ago.

The weather is good, at -2.5C (27 degrees, if you're in the United States) ... not too cold, but cold enough that the ice doesn't melt!
The Speed Skating Challenge, followed by log sawing and snow shoe races starts in 20 minutes! Gotta go!
C&C welcome, as always. Cheers! --- David Young, Logan Lake, CANADA Wildlife Photographs: http://www.furnfeather.net Personal Web-pages: http://www3.telus.net/~telyt Stock Photography at: http://tinyurl.com/2amll4
